[The Guardian] Tensions are Rising

The aim of this gathering was to pass the draft resolution as fast as possible to meet the deadline. The assembly started with an unmoderated caucus in which amendments regarding the draft resolution were being discussed. The delegates were almost whispering to each other, which made it difficult for the press to pick up anything. The determination and concentration in the room were palpable. As time passed, the discussions started to become a bit louder and more heated.

The delegation of Mali and Tanzania emphasized that “Economic development is important for regional stability”.

Another unmoderated caucus was proposed to discuss amendments, which was actually more intense than the last one. Most delegates got up from their chairs and were walking through the room and some signs of frustration were visible.
