[Reuters] Difficult first talks on Venezuela aid in the UNSC

In the aftermath of yesterday's attacks, Japan seeks collaboration with the United Nations Security Council.

In the opening remarks, Colombia emphasized Venezuela's innocence and urged against its suffering. The United Kingdom proposed a moderated caucus to discuss the de-escalation of sanctions but only supported by a small majority in the Council. Venezuela emphasized the need to lift Western sanctions and opposed France's stance to maintain them. Finally, the USA aims to expand humanitarian aid for the people of Venezuela and the surrounding region.
