The European Council, faced with the difficult task of finding an agreement over the solidarity mechanism and asylum policy, has arrived at a successful outcome. Surprisingly, it was the delegation of Poland, which had been one of the fiercer opponents of a common migration policy, who stated their gladness over the reached conclusion. This was supported by the remainder of the Council, as delegates expressed their great satisfaction and shared their happiness over the compromises made by the Polish delegation during the course of the previous sessions.
At last, the debate was closed and the voting procedure opened. The floor saw the success of the resolution and, apart from the abstaining of the Polish delegation, the European Council found unanimous agreement.
